What happens at your visit

Dr. Robin examines the injury, reviews imaging, and explains the diagnosis and treatment options. You leave with a completed DWC-073 Work Status Report the same day. Physical therapy is available in the same building at both clinics, so treatment and rehab can stay in one place when your plan approves it.

Filing a workers' comp claim in Texas

1: Report the injury to your employer in writing within 30 days

For injuries that develop over time, such as repetitive strain, the 30 days start when you learn the injury is work-related.

2: File DWC Form-041 within one year of the injury

File with the Texas Division of Workers' Compensation, online or by mail.

3: Find out if your claim is in network

If your employer's carrier uses a certified workers' comp network, your treating doctor and specialists need to be in that network.

4: Keep records

Save every visit summary, bill, and record of missed workdays.

Texas employers aren't required to carry workers' compensation coverage. If your employer is a non-subscriber, your care may be covered by the employer's own injury plan or other insurance. You can check your employer's coverage through the state's TXCOMP lookup.

The claim steps above describe the Texas workers' compensation system. Federal claims through the U.S. Department of Labor follow a different process, and other states have different deadlines and forms. This is general information, not medical or legal advice. Learn more about your rights as an injured employee from the Texas Department of Insurance. The Office of Injured Employee Counsel offers free help to injured employees with Texas claims.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral to see Dr. Robin for a work injury?

It depends on your claim. In a certified network, specialist visits usually need a referral from your treating doctor. Our workers' comp coordinator can tell you what your claim requires.

When will I get my work status report?

Your DWC-073 Work Status Report is completed at your visit and given to you before you leave.

Is physical therapy available?

Yes. Physical therapy is on site at both the Austin and Georgetown clinics. Whether or not you can be treated by one of our physical therapists depends on your insurance approval.

What if the patient doesn't speak English?

We have Spanish-speaking staff, and we have access to virtual interpreters for other languages. Hablamos español.

How soon can I be seen?

We prioritize new work injuries and usually get patients in within the week. Our coordinator can tell you the soonest opening when you call.

Do you accept federal Department of Labor claims?

Yes. Dr. Robin treats patients with federal claims through the U.S. Department of Labor, in addition to Texas workers' compensation claims. Federal claims follow a different process than Texas claims, and our workers' comp coordinator can walk you through it.

My employer doesn't carry workers' comp. Can I still be seen?

Yes. Non-subscriber injury plans and other insurance may cover your care. Call 512-856-1000 and we'll review your options.

Still have questions?

Call 512-856-1000 to speak with our workers' comp coordinator about an injury or referral, or submit an appointment request or question. Clinic staff are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
